Sometimes its good to know who has visited your blog and where they come from, rather than just a numbers game – "I had so many visitors of the week last ", etc. Make good use of statistics on visitors can help you refine your copy and content if you are a responsible online marketing seriously.
And if you're not, then there is still nothing more satisfying than seeing every day the number of visitors increased week on week. If nothing else, this proves that you do something good.
Platforms WordPress Blog and Blogger make it really easy to quickly add programs stat like Google Analytics and StatCounter through their Admin User Panels. In case of Blogger, you simply add an html / javascript widget, then copy and paste the tracking code StatCounter inside. It's really that simple.
However, when I came to add to my stats StatCounter Tumblr account, I found it a little harder.
Tumblr is described as a "blogging platform that allows users to display text, images, videos, links, quotes and audio to their tumblelog, a simplified blog. Users are able to "follow" other users and see their positions and on their dashboard. You can love or reBlog other blogs on this site and others can do the same thing to your messages. The service focuses on personalization and ease of use "(see Wikipedia)
I use Tumblr to assemble a Fantasy iPod playlist, a full listing of different music or video to YouTube every day. I now have a steady stream of music lovers colleagues following my post.
I could not find something in the help pages and online search has attracted more white.
Then I discovered almost by accident, the nugget of information I needed: how to install javascript Tumblr into your template, and I want to share this information with you here.
As with all changes made to the template, please, please make sure you have a backup somewhere first (develop widgets if you make these changes to the template on Blogger) that things can go wrong and be very very hard to recover. You've been warned! (But do not you try to put off the total).
So in my case, I wanted to install monitoring custom javascript provided by StatCounter. Here's what you do.
1 – Connect to your Tumblr account.
2 – Click the Customize link.
3 – Click on "Theme" and select "Use Custom HTML.
4 – Scroll to the end of the code and paste your StatCounter code JUST BEFORE
