You have options when it comes to how you view your Web pages. Many websites on the Internet are created using HTML. Some pages you will find are Adobe Acrobat "PDF". These files have been converted to Adobe's proprietary format, but anyone can the view down loading the free Acrobat reader. This article focuses on when to use HTML and when to convert content into PDF files for viewing on your site.

When should you use HTML-based pages?

The answer is almost always (unless you use a generated dynamically site which case part of the page is created by an automated process). But these sites are fairly static, most of your pages must be HTML. Why? Because that Internet browsers can display. It is the norm. There is no need for separate software to display HTML pages (like with PDF files). That's why most sites use it now

When should you use PDF files?

Only if required. The great thing about the Adobe PDF format is that you can retain the shape and layout of your source document on the web without any effort. The software examines the document and is a PDF that looks exactly like her. No need to do any coding. So if you have a newsletter, for example, which has a multi-column format, document would be tedious to convert to HTML. But with Adobe Acrobat, you just convert and bing-bang, you have the document ready to post on your website. Of course, when you send this file on your website, you should always give people a link to the free Adobe Acrobat Reader (since May, they did).

Why you should avoid most or all pages of your website in pdf format? The answer is simple navigation. PDF files are pages, they can not have navigation for PDF files or HTML files. It is also much easier to have your site built in HTML and PDF used for pages that take too long to convert to HTML or have complex formatting that would be difficult to reproduce in HTML.
