When applying for a position teaching English overseas with a company that services in Japan, I was asked to write a letter / essay stating "WHY I WANT TO LIVE AND WORK IN JAPAN"
Below are a little secrets of success when you are asked to write such a letter, followed by the letter itself.
1. Express interest at heart — Employers want people who are passionate about their work.
2. Communicating the love of culture – be it foreign or business.
3. Enhance your professional qualities, skills and achievements.
4. Differentiate yourself from other candidates. What makes you unique?
5. Express the depth of your commitment. Businesses want loyal and committed employees who will be there for the long term.
WHY I WANT TO LIVE AND WORK IN JAPAN
I want to live and work in Japan for the cultural experience and make a difference. My Travel World taught me that every nation, ethnic group and culture is something special to teach and pass on to humanity. Therefore I want to enjoy Japan, economic power and the country in a masterly novel, with an enormous influence in the world.
I have a certificate TESOL (Trinity College, London), over 3 years experience in teaching English, 15 years of education / experience in the world Whole conferences in over 50 countries, and I am the author of 14 books (two nominated for a Pulitzer Prize).
I especially like the Asian and have lived in the East for over three years. Japan has always been a country that I am fascinated by the unique way and I see more often. My grandfather a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, was stationed in Japan during World War II. "Pop-Pop" as I affectionately called, always spoke highly of the Japanese and his experience there.
I enjoyed teaching students in a Japanese language school Here in Orlando, Florida. They were very polite, hard working and pleasant to be with.
As a former physical trainer, I frequent the gym and very nice to get a shiatsu deep tissue massage. I also grew up playing baseball often, what I know is a very popular sport in Japan. It would be a pleasure to watch a game of baseball in Japan, as I have seen through television how exciting and festive as fans are about their national sport.
I am also very interested to see and experience sumo. Maybe I'll able to get a photo with one of Japan's national champions. The martial art Akito is also of great interest to me. During his stay in Taiwan, I studied some martial arts forms. The Japanese style Akito combines a unique blend of physical and defensive discipline that I feel would be very useful to learn.
A trip to Japan would not be complete without a visit to Mount Fuji, a beautiful natural and spiritual Odyssey. I have a lot of time for this experience and see the sun rise over the horizon it is picturesque.
I feel I would be a great teacher and asset to any school language, university, or company. My travel global understanding of Asian culture, and genuine love for students to make me a wonderful teacher. In addition, the fact that I am a published author, copywriter, poet and allows me to use English in multiple ways and inspire learning, some academic title.
Please consider me sincerely for a position in your company to better meet your schools throughout Japan. I think long term working relationships can be forged between us to bring outstanding results and mutual rewards. It is my desire to partner with a reputable company for which I am proud of for many years offer a vital contribution, and leave a legacy for other generations to follow.
At a time when nations fight for power positioning against each other military and increasingly hostile, it is essential that we in the global community learn to build bridges and work together peacefully. I am working as an English teacher in Japan is a way for us to begin to merge and to meet internationally, because we share the same language and culture.
Wishing you happiness, success and fulfillment.
