Basic concepts and equipment of a photography studio?
So I want to create a photography studio. Only a small and garage or in another room of the house to take portraits of friends and family. The problem is that I know nothing about studio lighting and what you need. Someone just me to give a list of basic equipment or something? Maybe I'll explain what I need and why do I need? I know a little about the lights and reflectors and umbrellas, but that love only some solid data. Thanks for any help.
You need lights. The lights are important. You may provide light in the way you want and can afford. That means thousands of dollars for a Profoto pack and heads, or $ 50 at Home Depot. Or many, many options in between. Th lights Flights will be the lights, working lights, or lights of problems. Preferably the kind with the aluminum reflector, about 10-12 "diameter. For a small wooden room, put large CFL (fluorescent) bulbs in them, because they do not generate any heat that way. At least 2, maybe 3 of these will be good for begin. The lamps have a spring clip on the back to hang on everything that is useful, it also makes it easy to move when necessary. Remember you can also bounce continuous lights, which have no point just on the subject. A stool or chair pose. Perhaps a table. Background are good, but not absolutely necessary. A tripod. A cable release for the camera, preferably long enough so that you are not stuck behind the camera. This allows you to interact with the subjects, but the capture of the expressions that are trying to achieve. If you want your setup to look * * A little more "professional" you can get a hot light kit at B & H of $ 65 which includes what is, essentially, to light the work mentioned above (with a handle and support assembly) a light position, and an umbrella. It comes with a 500 watt tungsten bulb, it will be very bright, but also put a ton of heat. If we change that with a fluorescent 35-43 watts and remain fresh. Get a couple of these kits, and that's it. # There http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/414532-REG/Impact_FL_500_KII_One_Light_Umbrella_Kit.html also features tons of them on ebay …
