What kind of career opportunities that exist for the photograph?
My community college offers courses in photography, but do not know where there would like to support myself.

Make money with digital photography has become a reality for many, even non-professionals and the explosion of technology has enabled thousands of people to make a living or extra income through their talent. I posted a couple of links below for free information on how to start and learn on how to get out of their photography. Not as easy as some say, but certainly possible if you can take good photos and have a quality digital SLR. These zero only the surface but should lead to many more useful tips. Good luck in your efforts.
