How can meters with a gray / gray card in the photograph of the film?
I'm totally lost as to what is supposed to work … I know I'm supposed to be the subway to the card, but I have absolutely no idea how to do the actual measurement, and I feel stupid and ridiculous because this. Help me?
It is usually a manual mode – or you have to "lock" the exposure. Make sure the card is receiving illlumination exactly the same (light) as the subject. Take an exposure reading from the card (this means you have to get physically close to the card – enough to fill the card in the display. Whatever the show is reading, that's all. Automatic camera – as soon as you move away, change the reading – you have that "lock exposure" (see manual) – or easier to use the Manual mode. rarely use it for that – I use it mainly for white balance.
