If you're new to photography then you've probably read or seen much of the continuing debate among photographers whether Canon is better than Nikon or vice versa. Canon and Nikon are the two leading brands of SLR cameras and are in constant battle to build a better digital camera. Competition is tight and victory in the race ebbs and flows to the two manufacturers of all cameras in the New Year cameras are launched.

Let's Get Down to the bottom line. We are tired of this debate and the need to examine why. I suppose it's like a BMW better than Mercedes or a Lexus is better than an Audi. There will never be a definitive answer for as long as the two manufacturers to perpetuate the race. Some forums photographs have now banned any discussion of this debate. So why the debate continues? Is this for the sake of debate or are there factors that must be taken into account.

The following criteria will help you decide on which device is best for you.

1. Personal preference

This is an important issue. I admit to being a Canon user since the first camera my father gave me was a Canon. I fell in love with her and she became my girlfriend. So I like Canon. I like the way he seems, and I love how it feels to hold. This is just my personal choice and feeling on the camera when the watch. Nothing else. The mai Nikon cameras better for all I care but Canon is the one for me. Plain and simple.

2. The Goal

Why do you use your camera? The reason I include this as one of the criteria is that you need to know what the object will be predominant. The two camera makers have a huge range of digital SLRs and some of these bands are better than others for specific purposes. And it is only within their own brand. So when you look at the two brands will be some better for specific purposes. For example, you may need a camera that has a fast frame rates per second and write fast memory card. In a particular range Nikon may be better in this area that if Canon Nikon would be the one to choose.

3. The Price Range

This is related to the criterion above. In a particular price range of the first camera, may have more features you need. Thus, with the price constraint in mind that you may need to go for the cheaper range to achieve these characteristics. So perhaps in this price range of the best of both cameras could be Canon.

4. Terms of Use

This is a very important. If you are a traveler you may find that the Nikon in the range you look is more robust than the Canon equivalent but the Canon has some features better. You choose instead Nikon Canon because it is more suited to travel. Other factors such as dust and moisture and seals that will help you determine his choice depending on the camera that has these features, if you use the device in more humid or dusty.

I do not think the goal of every manufacturer to build the ideal digital camera for all situations and conditions. I personally think it is probably impossible because of the costs involved. It boils down to the question of personal choice that helps ships the device manufacturer to make more money. Better sell two cameras covering all the needs of a photographer for a title.

My advice to anyone needing to take a decision on buying a Nikon or Canon digital camera is to watch all these criteria and decide for your photographic needs. The brand of the camera should be the last thing you take into consideration. If you do, you'll probably find yourself limiting your choice based on preconceived ideas.
