Artificial lighting solutions for modern photographers have never been so well before. If you have the time and money, you can create almost any lighting effect you will want. Many new cameras have built-in flashes, but that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to electronic flashes and studio lighting. Most of the pictures live and die for their lighting and composition, so the lighting is a critical concern for serious photographers.
Electronic Flash
Many photographers, even some professionals do not know how use lighting to its best advantage. Average number of people who buy cameras with a flash function to assume, erroneously, that the flash of the Board is all that need. You may obtain visible images with an integrated flash, but you will get some shots that show the quality of training. This does not mean you have to spend their entire salary for a new unit. A simple, pocket-sized flash that is used outside the chamber is all that is needed to make a big difference.
You can buy a laptop, an electronic flash for less than $ 75. Better models cost a bit more. Large, long range for quality units are more expensive, but probably do not need anything so elegant. If you're willing to spend about $ 100 for a new flash, you can certainly start to see more pictures decisions.
Avoid Red Eye
When using an electronic flash, you should pay attention to avoid red eye in images. To avoid this consistently, you need a flash that is mounted near or far above his chamber. Many 35mm cameras have a mounting bracket to hold a flash independent. Unfortunately, these brackets are too close to the lens to ensure that the red eyes will not be a problem. After many manufacturers market and sell media that can be used with almost any 35mm camera to get Flash independent units in more desirable locations.
Flash Types
There are different types of flashes available. The least expensive models, the selection of manual exposure settings. This can be a hit or miss proposition unless you own a light meter that reads flash photography. Many cameras can be equipped with self-exposure flashes. This type of arrangement is often best for people who are learning the ropes in flash photography. You have to pay more for an automatic flash unit or dedicated, but spending should prove to be useful. Check the articles and comments on the World Photographers to see if there is any breaking news time in electronic flash units.
When you buy a flash, there are some other features that you may be interested in looking. Will accept flash color filters? People who enjoy special effects photography often lighting with color filters, and you might like this too. Does the tilt head and / or Flash Swivel? Experienced photographers know that the light bounces off the walls, ceiling, reflector card and produces a soft lighting that is pleasant sight. Some models offer low-cost flash as a function of tilt and swivel. At a minimum, I suggest a model that allows you to tilt the flash head to bounce.
Knowing that the area of flash coverage can be very important. If you are using a wide angle lens with a flash that offers wide-angle coverage, your photos are not will be satisfactory.
The same applies if you are using a standard flash with a telephoto lens. See your dealer for the camera to explain the different any flash ranges are considering buying. If you look at the back of the flash unit, you can find the marks which indicate their rank. Of course, should be part documentation on the range at the manufacturer-supplied documentation that is provided with a new flash unit.
If you are buying a flash high quality, must be able to handle standard, wide angle and telephoto photography. Adapters are usually placed on standard flash head for anyone to focus the beam for telephoto shots or pay for work of wide angle.
Recycling Time
What is the recycle time for the flash? This is something you can easily test. Put the batteries in the flash you are seeing and press the test button when the unit is ready to fire. Time how long it takes light ready to come back. If you are in high speed photography with the use of a motor unit is needed for a quick flash keep up with you. Another less important but still viable count is the number of flashes to obtain a set of batteries or a battery pack.
Many photographers dedicated to use two separate flashes, one on each side of the lens, to produce even the shadow less lighting. This type of lighting is very popular with the work of care, and is effective with portraits and photographs of others. If you decide to buy two flashes to work together, make sure they are compatible each other. A little peanut slave (remote triggering device) can be installed in one of the flashes of fire so that both flashes simultaneously. Slaves like this can be purchased at very reasonable costs. Some flash media are obliged to accept two flashes at once, and this arrangement offers high-quality lighting, blink even when using low power.
Connection Synchronization
Another consideration to keep in mind is if you flash units buy work shoe with an attachment or a sync cable. Your camera may not have a caliper. If you have one, will be at the top of the camera. Some cameras have owners who are not flash hot shoe. Do not let this fool you. Take your camera with you when buying a flash. Mount the flash and see if it is activated when Pressing the shutter button. If it does, whether the camera is not equipped or shoe flash unit is not.
Flashes are not automatically linked with a camera through a shoe that require the use of a sync cable. This is just a cable from a port on the flash to a camera port. Sync cables usually work well, but do so in the way sometimes. Also, synchronizing connections sometimes loose, resulting in flash will not fire. And modern Many amateur camera bodies and grade are not equipped with a docking port for synchronization.
You may not use the flash often, but you want it to work well when you do. Buy a flash and good use enough to get to know and settings. When it comes time to take pictures with flash, you're ready.
